Antisocial behaviour and disorder
Amber Valley Community Safety Partnership recognises the impact that anti-social behaviour (ASB) can have upon people's lives.
ASB covers many different offences, from low level persistent nuisance to serious public disturbance. It has been defined in the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 as 'acting in a manner that caused or was likely to cause alarm, distress or harassment to one or more persons not of the same household'.
ASB has been identified as a priority for partnership action. We recognise the need to address ASB problems and reduce the fear of anti-social behaviour in the borough.
Examples of ASB include:
- criminal damage and vandalism
- noise nuisance
- hate crime
- intimidation and harassment
- litter and rubbish and fly tipping
- drug abuse and dealing.
In order to enable us to gain an accurate picture of ASB occurring across Amber Valley, it's vital to report all incidents to the police, and for residents experiencing persistent problems to keep a diary of incidents. This diary should record times, dates, the nature of incidents and a description of the perpetrators. Further guidance can be found on the links opposite.
