Garden Mess, Garden Eyesore!

Most people take pride in their gardens and are considerate about when they mow their lawns or have to do work that may disrupt others.

However there are some groups of people who are not quite so considerate. Leaving a garden to become not only overgrown, but also covered in litter, or animal mess is not very pleasant for everyone else and a potential hazard.

Having a BBQ is a nice idea on those nice long hot summer days, but it can be hell for those sitting in the next garden who have to put up with the smoke coming into their gardens, especially those who may have respiratory problems, not to mention the parties that then tend to go on in the later hours and cause disturbance to others.

Bonfire Distress & Nuisance

Garden BonfireBonfires are also another cause of much distress and disturbance.

There is nothing quite as nice as hanging out your laundry in the summer and having your clothes smell wonderful and fresh. And having your windows open to let in all that wonderful fresh air and help keep the house cooler when the days get warmer.

No fun though, if you have smoke from a garden fire coming into your windows or your neighbour lights that fire just as you happen to hang out your washing or open your window. Or maybe you planned a nice afternoon sitting out with a cool drink and a good book? Certainly no fun when you are wafting smoke away.

There are rules and regulations about bonfires in a back garden and most certainly what you can legally burn which won't give off poisonous fumes and cause potential danger or health risks to others.

Remember your neighbour, be considerate

It's not a lot to ask people to be that bit more considerate when thinking about the use of their gardens. By all means, enjoy summer, and enjoy your BBQ, just be considerate. Even better, invite all the neighbours and be sure not to cause a nuisance when it's really not necessary.

And do you really need to light that bonfire now? Would it not be better to pop round the houses nearby and just check they are all OK for you to do it and no-one has any washing out or is planning to? A few quick words can save a whole heap of trouble (and mess).

And if you are having trouble keeping your garden under control, why not ask a neighbour for a hand? In fact, ask a few and put on some sarnies and a cup of tea. You would be surprised how many people will want to lend a hand if they know you are struggling to keep up with the garden.

There is always someone who will offer to help, if they can.

Mend Britain, go garden conscious!
