Graffiti is a criminal offence and an act of anti social behaviour.
At best it is unsightly and causes areas to look unkempt, and at worse increases many peoples fears of crime in the area as it is often, but not always, created by gangs.
This gang related graffiti is defined by gangs "tagging" their particular group's "signature" as a signal to mark their "territory".
Graffiti can be not only gang tagging but scribbles, pictures and messages created by individuals or pairs and can be very distressing if your property has been vandalised in this way.
If you witness an act of graffiti taking place, you should contact your local police and also report it to your local authority who will arrange for its removal.
If you are suffering from repeated acts of graffiti on your own property it is possible to buy anti graffiti products that you can paint on the area being targeted and this helps to prevent the paint adhering to the targeted area. If you already have graffiti there are also specialised products available to assist in its removal.

In the UK it is illegal to sell spray paints to anyone under the age of 16. If you are aware of a retailer selling products to underage youngsters they should be reported to the police.
